The Hundredth Anniversary of the Canadian Copyright Act

One hundred years to the day after the passing of the Canadian Copyright Act in 1921, which remains the foundation of today’s copyright law, ALAI Canada brings together three panelists who are known for their work on the history of Canadian copyright law. They will talk about the context of its adoption so as to inform us of its evolution till today. Two discussants will join them to bring their points of view on the Canadian situation: one from the United Kingdom, the country whose 1911 Imperial Copyright Act served as the model for ours, and one who is originally from Australia and who will be able to explain why Australia took a different approach for its implementation of the 1911 Act.
